I know I didn't post a blog this week, thats cause I was busy working out the final details for this. I am thrilled to officially announce the launch of my first-ever photography book, Biomes!
This project is a culmination of my 18-month journey into wildlife photography. More than just a collection of great shots, Biomes is an 80-page, carefully curated story of my obsession with the technical challenge and unexpected nature of the natural world.
What is Biomes?
Biomes is a photographic exploration of the diverse natural habitats across the USA, focused on the incredible wildlife that lives there. It is a commitment to seeing photography the way it was meant to be seen: printed, not scrolled.
This book is a personal journey that started when my daughter suggested we take pictures of birds, a suggestion that quickly turned into a full-blown passion.
It's also a challenge I set for myself, could I, instead of throwing a bunch of photos into a book and calling it good, make something with a distinct flow, cohesion, and story? I think I succeeded in this, but it's really for everyone else to decide now (which I admit is terrifying).

A Walk Through the Biomes: The Flow of the Book
The book is structured to take you through the distinct environments I explored over the last year and a half:
- Rivers and Lakes (Action and Still) This section starts with high-octane action, featuring dramatic hunting shots of Osprey and Bald Eagles during the spring shad migrations in Virginia and Maryland. You'll see the sheer power and speed required to capture these moments before transitioning to the stillness and intimate photography of lakes.
- Forests and Meadows (Color and Detail) Here, the focus shifts to intimate, colorful moments, following the seasons, with animals like the bright Indigo Bunting on a sunflower and elusive small songbirds. This section is where you’ll also find the elusive Barred Owls that make for such challenging subjects.
- Deserts (The Break in the Clouds) This is the big geographical break! It’s a series of stunning landscapes from my time in Utah, including the Milky Way over Delicate Arch and the famed Mesa Arch in Utah. This section is a testament to slowing down and capturing small, peaceful moments.
- Coastlines and Oceans (Perspective) This part of the book explores the diversity of the East Coast, from rocky shores to sandy beaches. It features the famous puffins whose challenging shoot forced me to fundamentally change my perspective: edit for the photo I have, not force an experience to be something it isn't.
- Marshes (Coming Home) The journey ends back in the rich marshlands of Virginia, where 90% of my photography takes place. It reinforces the idea that even familiar locations offer endless stories.
Two Ways to Experience the Book
I believe that if you’re going to print a book, you should do everything you can to make it as accessible as possible. That's why I am offering Biomes in two editions:

This is the version I made for myself. It’s a 12×12 hardcover printed on premium luster paper, with big spreads and bold color. Printed on demand through Blurb.
It’s expensive, but I want to be clear about why. Blurb’s cut is $151 just to print it. This was never about making money. It was about creating something high quality that I’d be proud to keep on my own shelf.
Cost: 175

This book was meant to be seen in print, the spreads are all designed to flow that way. Thats why I also designed a 2nd version to be a little more approachable. This 7x7 version is printed on standard paper, consider it the mini version.
Like the hardcover, I’ve kept the markup low so more people can actually hold it.
Cost: 60
Thank you for supporting this passion. I hope this book can inspire you to pick up a camera and go explore like so many have inspired me on my journey.
